.          Chopta is  located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand India. Located on the Tungnath mountain, the Tungnath Temple, which is at an altitude of 3460 meters, is located at the highest point in the penthouse. This temple is believed to be 1,000 years old and here it is worshiped as one of Lord Shiva's PanchKedars. It is believed that this temple was built by Pandavas to please Lord Shiva, who was angry with the Pandavas due to the massacre in Kurukshetra. Tungnath is the source of the top three streams, from which Akshakamani river forms. The temple is located 3 kilometers away from Chopta. It is said that Parvati mother had practiced austerity before marriage here to please Shiva.


This is called the area of full PanchKedar. Traveling along the banks of the Alaknanda, from Rishikesh to Srinagar Garhwal, increases the journey. If you reach Rudraprayag, then you have to enter the Mandakini valley after leaving the Alaknanda. The route is narrow from here. Therefore, the driver needs to be careful while driving. The route is extremely tempting and beautiful. Going forward, there is a small town called Agastya Muni, from which the Nandakot peak of the Himalayas starts appearing.
On the road that leads to Chopta, the dense bamboo forest and Burundi and scenic scenes attract tourists. Chopta is located at a height of twelve thousand feet from the sea. There is a temple of Tungnath at a height of 13,000 feet after a trip of three kilometers from here, which is called PanchKedar. A three-kilometer walk from Chopta to Tungnath makes a beautiful Buggy world. Here is the ancient temple of Shiva After ascending the height of one and a half kilometers from this ancient Shiva temple, there is a peak called Chandrashila at 1400 feet. Where the vast form of the Himalayan visually impaired can sadden anyone It seems that the silence around you. The beautiful range of forests in the Tungnath and the view of the valley emerges, is very unique. After reaching the distance of about eight kilometers from Chopta, one can reach Deoria, which is the southern direction of the Tungnath temple.


This rhythm has some specialty that gives him and the lakes specialty. The reflection of snow-covered peaks such as Chaukhhambha, Nilkanth, etc. in this transparent lake The total diameter of this lake is five hundred meters. Around it there are intense forests of bamboo and humus, and on the other hand there is an open terrain.
There is also a musk deer breeding form on the path leading from Chopta to Gopeshwar. Here beauty of musk deer can be seen closely. In the month of March-April, the flowers of Rhododendron scatter their unique shades throughout this route. In the month of January-February this entire area is covered with snow. About Chopta, British commissioner Atkinson had said that it was useless to be born on this earth that the person who did not see his life during his lifetime. Even though this expression of Atkinson may seem superficial to some people, but the beauty here is wonderful, nobody can doubt it. This visit is not less than a thrill for a tourist.

 When and how to reach?

You can travel from May to November. Although the journey can be done in other times, due to snow fall the vehicle's journey is less and the pedestrian travel is more. In the months of January and February, the snow can be enjoyed here too.

Any one of the two ways to  reach here: 

1. By Rishikesh to Gopeshwar. The distance of Gopeshwar from Rishikesh is 212 kilometers and then Chopta Chopta is four kilometers ahead of Gopeshwar, which is connected by road.
Waking up from Rishikesh. The distance from Rishikesh to Ukhimath is 178 Kms and then Chakshi Chopta Chakshi next to Ukmitha, which is connected by road.
Roadway Facilities

Bus service is available from Rishikesh to Gopeshwar and Ukhimath. Apart from bus service to Chopta from these two places, taxis and jeeps can also be booked.


Residential Facilities :

At Gopeshwar and Ukhimath, there are rest houses of the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Corporation. Apart from this, there are private hotels, lodges, hospices, which are easily accessible. Residential accommodation is also available in Chopta and there are local people's shops.

Best time to visit Himachal Pradesh 

From May to November, the journey here is a little simpler. Weeks is enough for travel. Hot clothes should stay together because there is cold throughout the year.
